A new amnesty for illegal aliens will reinforce the message that the United States welcomes or at least tolerates illegal migration. Our immigration history – especially the surge in illegal entry after the general amnesty of 1986 – proves that effect. But that is not the most important reason for opposing the new amnesty being proposed for the so-called ‘dreamers.’
The most important reason for opposing a new amnesty is that each time an amnesty is adopted it becomes harder to oppose the next one.
When the general amnesty for illegal aliens was enacted in 1986 the public was assured that it was a one-time event and would never be repeated. But, since then, the supporters of open borders have pushed for additional amnesties. They have gained them for Haitians and Central Americans, as well as other limited legalization measures such as the DACA program and allowing many of them to gain legal permanent residence following travel abroad.
The current proposed amnesty by the White House includes all of those who gained temporary amnesty under the Obama administration’s DACA program, plus other hundreds of thousands who have a similar background but have not yet sought that amnesty. But, not part of the current proposal are the additional millions of illegal aliens including family members of the DACA beneficiaries. The open borders lobby is already pushing to protect those additional illegal aliens plus other hundreds of thousands living and working here under temporary protected status from deportation. A proposal has surfaced to create a new visa category that would offer the additional millions legal status but not green cards yet. That subterfuge it is nothing more than a disguised holding action until a new general amnesty is pushed through Congress.
It is delusional to think that the current negotiations will solve the problem of illegal immigration if it includes an amnesty component, even if the amnesty is limited. It is merely a foot in the door, and amnesty advocates will not cease their efforts to push it open wider. Each time they achieve a new amnesty any resistance will become harder.

Amnesty is a slap in the face to the millions of now naturalized US citizens who came here and became US citizens doing it the right way. My grandparents came here amny years ago and didn’t expect a handout and realized that they had the opportuity to better their lives and that meant becoming US citizens, learning English, getting jobs and becoming loyal to this nation that gave them the opportunity to make great lives for themselves. In San francisco we’ve a chinese invasion. These disgusting ill mannered *********** are first in line for all the freebies doled out by the liberals running this once great state and all this is paid for by the overburdened taxpayers forced to pay for all this BULLS**T.
Gerald: Absolutely right on every point. We should also change the anchor baby rule, to: instant citizenship for a baby born here who has ONE American citizen parent. There are too many single women coming here to have babies just so they will have a free ticket to stay. Why should someone who has never lived here, worked here, paid taxes here or usually does not speak English, get this instant privilege? The majority of single illegal immigrant mothers here are receiving government benefits — after all,” I have to take care of the baby so I can’t work.”
Big thing in this matter is that illegals people think USA is obligated to give them legal estatus, as well as the advocate agencies .
Also, they are so unrespectful, not recognizing taxpayers have to pay all expenses related to legalizing them!
No legal status, no amnesty of any sort for illegals. Period. There should be no consideration of anything other than how the “Dreamers” have come out in force DEMANDING that they be forgiven their criminal behavior and illegal presence in the US. What they DESERVE is a 364 day Federal Prison sentence and, immediately upon release, returned to their countries of origin. Why 364? To allow them to get in line and allow the EVENTUAL possibility that they can regain entry LEGALLY. While away they can acquire the necessary skills to come in under the “skilled” immigration umbrella.
But NEVER citizenship.

Allowing them to stay here without citizenship helps our country little if any. As long as they, any illegals, are here, they will ALWAYS be a drain on American taxpayers. Furthermore, the illegals don’t really care about citizenship. Why would They? They already get almost all the rights and benefits of citizens without any of a citizens responsibilities. They can’t yet be president, but I expect the democrats and progressives will even allow that in the future just as I expect they are already plotting a way to allow illegals to vote. Already hearing those rumbles. Just consider Mexicans, the over 50 million here and gaining more every day. It is INSANE to allow such numbers from the same country, simply asking for serious problems down the road. Think about when Mexicans are the MAJORITY people in America (over 100 million by/before 2040). Just think about the possibilities, all negative for OUR country.

The media is doing another propaganda job of presenting the latest McCain amnesty bill as “bipartisan”, just like they do with Lindsey Graham, when the fact is that the two of them have views that mirror Chuck Schumer’s.
What we are seeing is almost a virtual repeat of the failed 2013 amnesty bill supported by both. It’s amnesty up front with “studies” to be done on border security for the future. How many times are we supposed to buy into these lies. McCain is a con artist. Every election when he has an opponent who is tough on illegals McCain uses all his big business PAC money to run ads like he’s the one that will be tough, and then once he’s reelected he goes right back to his amnesty/open borders agenda.
As I understand the little which has been published on the McCain-Coons recommendation is that they – the two politicians – are proposing the Illegal Aliens already here will be granted amnesty. Under the same proposal, there will be NO money for or construction of the Wall to keep out future floods of Illegals. Since it has appeared to me for years there is no enforcement of the Immigration Laws already on the books, why would Congress even finish reading the McCain-Coons recommendation because that would simply mean a continuation of the status quo.
Also, since the Obama DACA Executive Order was declared to be an illegal, unenforceable order (according to Obama’s own words when he signed it), President Trump could not and would NOT be under any legal obligation to extend the illegal DACA order past the March 5th ending date he set. Therefore then, the DACA fiasco must end and all those applicants deported under current, enforceable Laws.
There was once a time in this country when immigrants were not only welcome, they were needed for our farms and for our factories, etc. But that time has long since passed. The situation that now exists is that there are too many people, many of whom are unskilled in even providing for themselves, nevermind in improving the country, in general, who cause problems, rather than solve them.
The natural population growth, without adding immigrants is sufficient to provide for our future. Adding unneeded immigrants to our already strained public resources is definitely NOT the way to go. Shut off all immigration in order to improve life here is the way. Perhaps, if we do that, we can catch up to a point where we once were-where equilibrium exists and people live normal, productive and prosperous lives. I am for that.
I agree. Deport ALL foreign illegals. ASAP. Cut legal immigration to less than 10,000 for 20 years and limit those to white people since darkskinned folks from third world countries have had preference for 30 years. End all work VISAs and move our citizens who are unemployed or on welfare into those jobs, providing training where necessary. Stop giving our money to other nations and focus on the needs of America and our citizens.
