Judicial Watch has released documents showing a conspiracy between the Mayor of Rutland, Vermont, and the Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program to conceal plans to bring Syrian refugees to the town. Unfortunately, stealth resettlement has become the standard tactic whenever concerned citizens raise questions about the impact large numbers of foreign arrivals may have on their communities.
The authorities in Rutland, however, went a step beyond abandoning their constituents in favor of political correctness. The papers obtained by Judicial Watch also show an attempt to blunt public safety concerns by arguing that refugees inevitably bring “new ideas and delicious food.” Apart from insulting the intelligence of Rutland’s citizens, this type of official condescension shows a woeful ignorance of the very real problems that often accompany resettling people in an utterly alien culture.
In addition to ethnic food and cultural activities, increasing numbers of immigrants have also contributed to the spread of many behaviors and practices contrary to American values. While the food can be delicious, the “new ideas” are often malicious.
Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is a practice associated mainly with African and Middle Eastern countries that made its way here with immigrant groups. It constitutes a criminal act in all 50 states. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has published a report estimating that 513,000 women and girls in the U.S. have undergone FGM or are now at risk of being subjected to it.
Forced marriage is a growing problem among immigrant groups in the United States. Estimates vary widely but it appears that thousands of immigrant women and girls are forced to marry every year. Syrian refugee communities appear to have a particularly high incidence of forced marriages involving child brides.
Webster’s Dictionary defines “honor killing” as “the traditional practice in some countries of killing a family member who is believed to have brought shame on the family.” Closely linked to forced marriage, honor killing is prevalent in tribal cultures where weddings are viewed as a means to gain social standing or cement family relationships. Honor killings are on the rise in the United States, particularly among ultra-orthodox Muslims.
Warmly welcoming foreigners and absorbing them into our communities is an established American tradition. Forced marriage, FGM and honor killings aren’t. Perhaps the elected officials and government bureaucrats in Vermont should spend less time worrying about new ideas and more time focusing on legitimate concerns raised by their constituents.

Mexican: They buy the beans and non-nutritive white rice “CHEAP” from 50 lb bags….then cut up 2-4 oz of chicken and charge like $15 a plate….no bargain buffets either. Acid indigestion from hot sauce?

Overpopulation is killing us and its gonna get much worse!
Speaking of overpopulation, Hillary was campaigning in Florida with Al Gore yesterday and they were talking about global warming. Not a word from either of them about the fact that US population has increased by 66 million since the first year of the Clinton administration in 1993. How do we ever do reductions in levels of greenhouse gases with that kind of growth.
Add on top of that her “open borders” proposals which would destroy our environment. But does the media ask her any questions about that? Do we have a national discussion on this? Basically, she should be running on the libertarian ticket because she wants open borders, unrestricted trade, and tells Wall Street in private they can regulate themselves. And if Wikileaks is the Russians, which is not proven, I say thank you for doing the job our extremely biased media won’t do. Especially NBC and CNN which are beyond the pale.
It was interesting that her aide Jennifer Palmieri was shown in a leaked e-mail to be bashing Catholics and Hillary will do nothing about it. But let a Trump aide point out, accurately, the massive repression against women and minorities in Muslim countries, and you never would have heard the end of “Islamophobia”. Liberals suffer from schizophrenia. Talk about environmental damage but encourage even more of the immigration that will make it worse. Attack evangelicals but never admit that they can’t hold a candle to the repression and brutality contained in Sharia which is law in many Muslim countries.
It was ironic hearing Hillary defending her public and private position remarks by mentioning Lincoln. He said you can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can’t fool all the people all the time. Hillary says yes I certainly can, I will lie to your face.

Population growth has always been the elephant in the room. Lack of water has become a big problem. Too many droughts in the West, increasing fires & burned homes and forests. Not enough water in our aquifers & contamination of them becoming a big issue! Takes long time to replace used water. Agriculture lands eaten-up with “roof tops”.Can population growth RATE be slowed? It was in 1900’s. Realize that families in 1800’s were LARGE, like 10 kids. But those “kids” saw how it affected them and their poor quality of life. Each generation had fewer children until the average family in America was 3 children, or fewer. Our recent growth is caused by illegals, producing large families. The facts on that can be researched. That will continue as long as they are encouraged to come into our country illegally! People who have applied to enter, legally, are waiting their turn. Letting others enter without waiting is shameful. Trump is correct. We cannot take more refugees that we cannot vet! Ask the families who lost loved ones to the “shootings” in America. Can’t we show respect for them, by learning?
You are absolutely correct. My dad’s parents came from families of 7 and 13 kids. Among the two families they barely had enough kids to reproduce them selves. Some had one or none. It was only 1915 that our population hit 100 million for the first time, now 325 million. But as you say these are all facts, which the other side dismisses as nativism and racism.
These Wikileaks are a gift for Trump. He will never have the media on his side and she will outspend him ten to one.The biggest one is the open trade and open borders comments. Hillary has already confirmed the one about public and private positions, aka lying, by her weak explanation for it. Now there are more emails showing collusion between the media and the Democrats, which we knew anyway and other emails showing how the party was constantly trying to sandbag Sanders.

After attending the interview, my constituent was told that her case would be approved, but because of the annual cap on immigrant visas, she would have to wait until the beginning of the new Fiscal Year to receive her permanent resident card. After October 1 – the beginning of the new fiscal year – my staff contacted USCIS again and confirmed that my constituent’s permanent resident card had been issued.
