A New Resource for Understanding our Foreign Worker Problem

chamber_commerce_hqNorman Matloff, a computer science professor at the University of California, Davis, has long been recognized as a leading authority on the H-1B guest worker program, and has highlighted the abuses of that program by many leading U.S. tech companies. Professor Matloff has just launched a new blog, which will deal with, among other things “STEM education issues” and “the tech industry labor market, especially regarding the H-1B work visa and age discrimination (starting at age 35!).”

The blog is entitled Upon Closer Inspection and will no doubt prove to be a valuable resource for countering the false claim of Mark Zuckerberg and his Silicon Valley cronies.

The link to Professor Matloff’s blog can be found on FAIR’s Related Resources page, along with links to all things immigration-related.

Your website must supply a clear message using a goal-oriented direction, setting you apart
from the competition. Investors are there to assist the entrepreneur and to realize a profit from their investment through the entrepreneurs company.

it may also be used by headhunting and employment.

No chance to read it yet BUT he says…..innovative people tend to be dreamers?……………it appears this professor wonks nothing about the process how the USA was born and became a power with all the immigrants coming here + The American Dream that started in a way with Capt. John Smith…..to be fair I will read it sometime later and finish his claims………………………but so far what does a professor like him know about being innovative in the technology World…………ha PhD knows a lot about one thing only……..his expertise of his studies and his experiences on it very limited in his case…..

hard to tell what he means by dreaming………………define R&D by demographics and decades……………fro example without the Germans we would have made it to the moon and the electronics from WWII……………………….he has a darn point regarding Steve Jobs and others without an education…and to further his point….it is easier to make it here …since the system is already set up for success…even though we r not smarter than people from other countries….meaning…….if Gates had been in a third world country…he would never made it….for instance………BUT Universities for their Research go worldwide to look for graduate students for their Research….anyway…..what is the point of all this?…………………..people tend to abuse like people do welfare………….the richest man in the World….from Mexico…with Lebanese ancestry like Steve Jobs…………………..raised to succeed…………..with a degree in engineering…………from Mexico but Steve Jobs….no degree from the US……………….an interesting contrast………………..which probably breaks most people’s life’ concepts…………

Mr. Winthrop… America already has a special immigration category for geniuses and real life innovators, and as you said, the world is searched for these special people to recognize their work and ability here. We do not need to import tens of millions of job competitors, not loyal to the United States, to find this needle in a haystack.

I’ve seen a lot of justifications for Facebook’s mood altering experiment. People say that when you agree to the terms of use for the site, you agree to them doing “research”. Uh, sure. But what does almost everyone think that actually means? They think of ads trying to sell you shoes or music and other items because you have expressed an interest in a similar product. What they do not expect is some third party feeding you negative stories to see if you become more negative in your posting and more negative in general. Suppose someone had a fight with their spouse and that was the last straw in the relationship? But then, considering the manipulative history of Mr. Zuckerberg, nothing should surprise.
