Corker Amendment Lets Napolitano Waive Border Security

Schumer Threatens Mass Demonstrations if House Doesn’t Pass Amnesty

“A senior Democratic senator predicted Sunday there could be massive demonstrations in Washington if House Republicans try to block a bill to grant legal status to millions of immigrants. Sen. Charles Schumer (N.Y.), the lead Democratic sponsor of the Senate immigration reform bill, said House Republicans would likely spark massive civil rights rallies if they try to quash measures to create a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants already in the country,” The Hill reported.

Corker Amendment Lets Napolitano Waive Border Security

“The new version of the “Gang of Eight” bill, repackaged with the “border surge” amendment from Sens. Bob Corker (R-TN) and John Hoeven (R-ND), would grant the Secretary of Homeland Security the authority to decide whether or not to implement the border security technology and fencing provisions in the bill. Ignoring them wold result in no repercussions whatsoever,” notes Breitbart News.

“On Page 30, line 4 of the new bill, there is a provision that gives Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano (or any of her successors) complete discretion on deploying certain technology or use “alternate technology” instead. The language of the bill, however, also allows her to deploy no additional technology.”

Corker Amendment Up for Vote, 1,100+ Pages

“The Hoeven-Corker border security amendment to the Gang of Eight comprehensive immigration reform bill is finally out, and it is huge. Released in several parts, it totals 1,190 pages, amounting to a rewrite of large portions of the original bill. While much of the text of those 1,190 pages duplicates portions of the original legislation, there are entirely new passages and significant changes throughout – enough to keep anyone who cares about what is in the bill busy for quite a while,” notes Byron York at the Examiner.

‘The problem is, they don’t have quite a while. The Senate will likely vote on the amendment on Monday. That’s not much time to read and digest such a momentous and far-reaching piece of legislation.”

Sen. Sessions – Amnesty Bill Will Harm Workers

The U.S. Senate is on the verge of delivering a crushing economic blow to you and your family. The wages of working Americans have been falling since 1999. But the immigration bill hurtling to a vote in the Senate would add 30 million mostly lower-skill legal immigrants over the next decade — tripling the current legal immigration rate. It would also double the number of guest workers,” notes Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL).

“Your tax burden would rise as well. Today’s low-income illegal immigrants would be given immediate amnesty under the Senate’s immigration plan. When this happens, they would become instantly eligible for state and local benefits, in addition to generous federal tax credits. Later on, they would eventually become eligible for all federal assistance programs.”
