U.S. To Accept 100,000 Refugees By 2017
“The Obama administration will increase the number of worldwide refugees the United States accepts each year to 100,000 by 2017, a significant increase over the current annual cap of 70,000, Secretary of State John Kerry said Sunday. ‘This step that I am announcing today, I believe, is in keeping with the best tradition of America as a land of second chances and a beacon of hope,’ Mr. Kerry said, adding that it ‘will be accompanied by additional financial contributions’ for the relief effort,” states the New York Times.
Chinese Illegal Aliens Up 307 Percent Since 1990
“The focus on illegal immigration from Latin America has overshadowed another growing trend: unauthorized Chinese coming into the United States. A report from the Migration Policy Institute, an immigration think tank, reveals that there are 285,000 Chinese illegals in the United states, up from 70,000 in 1990, a 307 percent jump,” says the Washington Examiner.
Walker Out Of Presidential Race
“Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has suspended his presidential campaign, effectively ending a once-promising GOP presidential bid that collapsed amid tepid debate performances, confusing statements and other missteps. ‘Today, I believe that I am being called to lead by helping to clear the field in this race so that a positive, conservative message can rise to the top of the field,’ Walker said in a brief speech in Madison, Wisconsin, on Monday evening. ‘With this in mind, I will suspend my campaign immediately,’” reports the Washington Post.
