Texas Governor Rick Perry famously signed a bill granting in-state tuition rates for children of illegal aliens. Now, some school districts in the state are taking that as a mandate to go the extra mile to encourage illegals to continue breaking our laws.
“Si se puede! Si se puede!” says a flyer from the Temple Independent School District (TISD) in Central Texas. In Spanish and English, the handout asks Hispanic students and parents if they need money to go to college – then, makes it clear that even those in the country illegally should apply:
“Tu residencia legal no es problema.”
The flyer offers several freebies to those who attend a College Vocational Night for Hispanics:
• Free snacks
• Free child care
• Food vouchers to feed a family of four for a week
• Assistance in filling out paperwork for scholarships and financial aid
And, of course, everything is presented in Spanish as well as English to be sure to cater to an expected crowd that not only flouts our federal immigration laws, but also refuses to learn our language.
You can blame school officials for being politically correct and non-judgmental to the point of being ridiculous, but they shouldn’t get all the blame. The food vouchers, which can be renewed each month, are federally funded through a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant. And, since Texas is one of about a dozen states that provide in-state tuition rates, local school districts, like TISD, have decided to encourage as many illegal aliens as possible to take advantage of this generous taxpayer subsidy..
The flyer lists the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and three area colleges as co-sponsors. You’d expect LULAC to support such activities – but why would American educational institutions aid lawbreakers, and even go out of their way to reward them?
We asked Temple Superintendent Dr. Robin Battershell. “Facts are that TISD and other districts have had limited success in parent involvement,” she said. “We along with others continue to seek ways to involve parents in improving discipline, educational opportunities, etc. Experience has shown that the more involved the parent, the better the student does.”
Dr. Battershell’s attitude that “parents are parents” is likely typical of most school district heads. She makes no distinction whatsoever between parents who are American citizens, those who are legal residents and those who broke our laws when entering this country. It’s an attitude that drives law-abiding taxpayers up the wall, but it flows from the signals that come from the federal and state levels. Dr. Battershell says as much when addressing our coverage of this issue on the radio:
“According to your show’s teaser, you take exception to the ‘Residency’ phrase. Once again, by law, public schools are required to serve any child that comes in the door and thus involve the parents of that child.”
She’s right about the letter of the law. But it is the districts – not the law – that make the decision to hold seminars about how to game the system of financial aid, give out freebies generously provided by taxpayers against their will, and boldly state that residency is “no problema.”
Many Texas school districts, unhappy with the state’s system of school finance, sued the state. But when it comes to redistribution of taxpayer wealth to foreign nationals and their children who are in Texas illegally, they are only too happy to comply. After all, our very conservative governor signed that bill.

Well, I think a lot of these problems fall on all of us the citizens of this country who were born here. We’ve been too busy to look around us and see what is going on, this included myself. We should all be sending letters to our congressmen and senators, calling their offices as well as the offices of the Preseident and voicing our concern. We have never in our history had this many people enter the country legally or illegally. You look at Irish Scandinavian or any other groups that came from Europe and the most or largest number of immigrants did not exceed maybe a million. Also, they could not illegally cross the border as the border they crossed was the Atlantic Ocean. Also, they were stopped at Ellis island and went through a series of examinations, including medical examinations and if they did not pass these examimations they were sent back to Europe. No one thought that that was an unfair or racist thing to do. During the 1930’s and 1940’s and even in the 1920’s ther was practically no i mmigation allowed into this country. No one knows our history anymore. When Eisenhower was in office as president he deported 2 million aliens so that our servicemen who had come back from WWII and Korea could have jobs. This are all historical facts. La Raza says that we the European stock who have been born in this country are intruders. Yet if it was not for us we as well as the black people who were brought here against their will were the ones who built this country and brought it to the high level of the standard of living that LaRaza and others from other countries want to possess. they want to ride accross the border and live off the sweat of our brows. Meanwhile all these jobs and these greedy corporations to make a profit export all these jobs to other countries after this country gave them the opportunity to exist grow and prosper. the young people in this country don’t have a clue as to what is going on and they willbe the ones that will inherit this mess. They are too busy being entertained but then again the media does not tell the truth about all these things. It’s like the Roman Empire, give them bread and circuses and keep their attention away from what the state is doing. We have sports, “reality” TV which isn’t “real” at all, all kinds of entertainment, IPODs and computers and all this electronic stuff and cell phones. These children have not social skills. They llive in this virtual electronic world. Some people are waking up, the Tea Party and the Occupy group although I do not necessarily agree with evertyhing that they espouse, but at least they are getting involved. Let’s hope that the younger generation wakes up. It’s going to be their country and their world. I’m sixty-five years of age and a Vietnam veteran my time here is almost up, maybe.

Thoughts on the LA RAZA Invasion
We know Dick Lamm as the former Governor of Colorado. In that context his thoughts are particularly poignant. Last week there was an immigration overpopulation conference in Washington, DC, filled to capacity by many of America’s finest minds and leaders. A brilliant college professor by the name of Victor Hansen Davis talked about his latest book, “Mexifornia,” explaining how immigration – both legal and illegal was destroying the entire state of California. He said it would march across the country until it destroyed all vestiges of The American Dream.
Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America. The audience sat spellbound as he described eight methods for the destruction of the United States. He said, “If you believe that America is too smug, too self-satisfied, too rich, then let’s destroy! America. It is not that hard to do. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall and that ‘An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.'”
“Here is how they do it,” Lamm said: “First, to destroy America, turn America into a bilingual or multi-li”ngual and bicultural country.” History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures. It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a society to be bilingual. The historical scholar, Seymour Lipset, put it this way: “The histories of bilingual and bi-cultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy.” Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, and Lebanon all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with Basques, Bretons, and Corsicans.”
Lamm went on: Second, to destroy America, “Invent ‘multiculturalism’ and encourage immigrants to maintain their culture. I would make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal. That there are no cultural differences. I would make it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rates are due solely to prejudice and
discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds.
Third, “We could make the United States an ‘Hispanic Quebec’ without much effort. The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently: “The apparent success of our own multiethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentricity and what it meant to be an American, we! are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together.” Lamm said, “I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor. It is important to ensure that we have
various cultural subgroups living in America enforcing their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similarities.”
“Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated. I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated, and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50% dropout rate from high school.”
“My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of ‘Victimology.’ I would get all minorities to think that their lack of success was the fault of the majority. I would start a grievance industry blaming all
minority failure on the majority population.”
“My sixth plan for America’s downfall would include dual citizenship, and promote divided loyalties. I would celebrate diversity over unity. I would stress differences rather than similarities. Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in hating each other – that is, when they are not killing each other. A diverse, peaceful, or stable society is against most historical precedent. People undervalue the unity it takes to keep a nation together. Look at the ancient Greeks. The Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they possessed a common language and literature; and they worshipped the same gods. All Greece took part in the Olympic games. A common enemy, Persia, threatened their liberty. Yet all these bonds were not strong enough to overcome two factors: local patriotism and geographical conditions that nurtured political divisions. Greece fell. “E. Pluribus Unum” — From many, one. In that historical reality, if we put the emphasis on the ‘pluribus’ instead of the ‘Unum,’ we will balkanize America as surely as Kosovo.”
“Next to last, I would place all subjects off limits; make it taboo to talk about anything against the cult of ‘diversity.’ I would find a word similar to ‘heretic’ in the 16th century – that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like ‘racist’ or ‘xenophobe’ halt discussion and debate. Having made America a bilingual/bicultural country, having established multi-culturism, having the large foundations fund the! doctrine of ‘Victimology,’ I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws. I would develop a mantra: That because immigration has been good for America, it must always be good. I would make every individual immigrant symmetric and ignore the cumulative impact of millions of them.”
In the last minute of his speech, Governor Lamm wiped his brow. Profound silence followed. Finally he said,. “Lastly, I would censor Victor Hanson Davis’s book “Mexifornia.” His book is dangerous. It exposes the plan to destroy America. If you feel America. deserves to be destroyed, don’t read that book.”
There was no applause. A chilling fear quietly rose like an ominous cloud above every attendee at the conference Every American in that room knew that everything Lamm enumerated was proceeding methodically, quietly, darkly, yet pervasively across the United States today.
Discussion is being suppressed. Over 100 languages are ripping the foundation of our educational system and national cohesiveness. Even barbaric cultures that practice female genital mutilation are growing as we celebrate ‘diversity.’ American jobs are vanishing into the Third World as corporations create a Third World in America – take note of California and other states – to date, ten million illegal aliens and growing fast. Governor Lamm walked back to his seat. It dawned on everyone at the conference that our nation and the future of this great democracy is deeply in trouble and worsening fast. If we don’t get this immigration monster stopped within three years, it will rage like a California wildfire and destroy everything in its path, especially The American Dream.
Just to let you know. Our Republican Congress blocked bills on e-verify and sanctuary cities from even coming up for a vote in the House. As a result I am committed to NOT voting for anyone who served in this Congress to get my vote for any position. Texas is over run with illegals and it has NOT slowed down, acording to my cousin, who has her ranch out buildings trashed constantly and those of her neighbors. They still approach my sister’s house repeatedly in S. Texas. The Homeland Security’s remark “that the border is safer than it has ever been” is not true. A really mad Texan

Thank you for your contributing article. I think a lot of citizen’s utter disregard toward the dire necessity to control immigration (legal and illegal) comes from inattention to their (or others’) surroundings, lack of ability to think logistically, and minute (or more, invisible/back door/private) modifications to their economy/lifestyle. But when something broadsides you the way I have been, it’s hard to ignore the obvious error our nation is making (not to mention the $1100 being taken from my family every year for illegal immigration).
After growing up out of state, I came to Texas to be close to the rest of my family while finishing my undergraduate degree. For four years I paid out of state tuition to Texas. For three of those years, my parents were in Texas with me. Just prior, “conservative” Gov. Perry signed the fateful in-state tuition bill into law, and began the nation down a desolate path. I eventually graduated, paying the state twice what an illegal immigrant at the time would, and am still fighting to pay off loans for it. I work for the state of Texas, as do many members of my family, and my lineage has been part of Texas since prior to it’s entry into the Union in 1845.
A few years ago, I found out that my job would reimburse my tuition for graduate school (which I had attempted once, but was not able to afford), so I applied, was accepted, and matriculted this past Fall. However, due to budget cuts, it’s now possible that that promise of tuition will be rescinded, and I will not be able to finish my degree, once again. Meanwhile, last week I received a notice that part of the tuition that I have been paying has been going towards other students’ tuition. I bet it doesn’t take you long to guess who is benefiting from this part?
So, it is quite possible that I will not graduate and be able to benefit the state of Texas as I would’ve had our budget not been cut, and at the same time, an illegal immigrant is getting passed along through college on all of us taxpaying (and tuition paying) citizens’ dimes. But in the end, they won’t be able to benefit the state of Texas either.
Not all people have been directly affected by illegal immigration the way I have, but everyone is being affected by this negative modification in our economy, whether they are attentive to it or not. If people would think logistically, pay attention to their surroundings, and be aware of what these “back door” policies are doing to our nation, we would not be fighting for a country that we all once knew.
I wrote an article on this recently for my school’s newspaper. My grandparents are avid supporters of your talk show, and sent the article to you. Unfortunately their generation, of people who know how to fix this problem, is dwindling. I’m only in my 20’s, but I’m wise enough to see this error that will lead to our demise.

This is just another in the long list of travesties committed against the people of this country. This did not start with Obama, but he has certainly furthered the destruction of our nation. Not only do we allow illegals to stay after they break in, we reward them with all sorts of goodies, thereby promoting the idea that the world is welcome and we are so weak that we won’t fight back. I dread to think what this, and past Presidents, would have done had they been on power on Dec.7th, 1941. I think they would have surrendered, saying, “well, the enemy is here and we can’t do anything about it.” I came from a long ago era where the greatest generation, who fought WW 11 would have said, “no way is this going to happen to our country,” and then done something about it..

My suggestion to you, since you have a radio show, would be to encourage your law-abiding, American, taxpaying, listeners to attend these functions whenever possible and to avail themselves of every freebie that is offered.
Also, encourage them to sue if they are denied entry for any reason. I think that would put a real damper on these functions.
Just my two cents…
Temple Superintendent Dr. Robin Battershell, along with LULAC, MALDEF, LA RAZA are totally wrong when they talk about “parent involvement” in educating students under the provisions of the infamous 1982 “Plyler v Doe” decisions in which the U.S. Supreme Court sadly mandated that the children of illegal alien parents who themselves were in the U.S. illegally had to be educated, free of charge, in U.S. public schools, grades kinder through 12. The Supreme Court, in its infinite wisdom, said nothing about requiring “parental involvement”, nor did the Court mention “free snacks, free child care, food vouchers, assistance filling out paperwork for scholarships and financial aid. Even Rick Perry’s bill allowing for in-state tuition failed to mention all the previously named freebies as part of his package. The sad fact is that while the lawbreaking behavior of these dishonorable so-called parents of illegal alien school age kids gets them into K-12, it should be well understood that the doors slam shut on the night of high school graduation. Bleeding hearts like Dr. Battershell who want so much to help these illegal alien kids should apply for positions with Mexico’s SEP (Secretaria de Educacion Publica) and freely and generously contribute to educating those kids on the other side of the border, even while their law-breaking so-called parents continue to provide Dr. Battershell and her ilk with cheap lawn care and house-cleaning services!
